Hobe Sound Productions was founded by Peter G. Merritt and Victoria L. Merritt in 2001. They have traveled to remote areas throughout Florida, the Bahamas, Canada, Costa Rica, and other locations in the United States to shoot video for products and presentation. They met while studying biology at Western Michigan University in 1975.

Peter G. Merritt  

Peter G. Merritt has been shooting digital video of wildlife since 1999. He received a M.A. degree from Western Michigan University in 1977, and a Ph.D. from the University of Miami in 1985. His doctoral thesis examined the singing behavior of the Northern Mockingbird in southern Florida. Peter has served as President of the Florida Ornithological Society (FOS), an organization that unites amateurs and professionals in the study of birds in the wild. He also served as editor of the Florida Field Naturalist, a scientific journal of ornithology and natural history. He currently serves as FOS Treasurer. Peter is the author and coauthor of a number of articles dealing with the behavior and ecology of birds. He has worked for over 24 years as a Regioanal Ecologist for Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council.

Victoria L. Merritt

Victoria L. Merritt   Victoria L. Merritt received an M.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1981 and an M.B.A. from the University of Florida in 2006. She is a skilled photographer and artist. One of her artistic methods is to create an oil painting modeled after a still frame video image. The oil painting of the Greater Flamingos above was inspired by the video of Greater Flamingos video taken in Great Inagua in 2002. Visit vicsgallery.hspi.us to view more of her original artwork.
